***100th Blog Entry!!***

September 3rd, 2010

Martyn and I had a great time at the snooker last night! We got there just before 7.30pm and the place was already packed. There were only seats available on the balcony which was a real shame, as all the cameras were focussed on the seating close to the snooker table.

We watched Shaun Murphy Vs. Ding Junhui. I don’t know much about snooker, but Murphy was able to defend his title.

Their match finished at 9pm so we decided to head home. It would have been nice to see Ronnie O’Sullivan play, but it was getting on a bit and Martyn needs to be up early for work.

Today has been spent writing some marketing copy for our law client’s website. I have been writing between 90-100 words on various areas of law. It sounds quite easy, but it’s difficult when you are restricted by a specific word count!

Tonight I am off to meet my friend Stacey at the Miller and Carter pub near where I work. It’s been ages now since we last met up and we both have so much to catch up on!

I don’t have much else planned for the weekend, but Martyn is coming down on Saturday to stay for the rest of the weekend. It’s also my friend Lynzi’s birthday party tonight and I’m gutted I can’t make it as I have an appointment at 10am tomorrow morning. But happy birthday Lynzi, hope you have a fab weekend partying!!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Ps. I’d just like to say a big THANK YOU to all my regular blog followers – it’s always nice to hear that so many people have been reading my posts and keeping up to date with what I’ve been up to. I can’t believe I’ve now written 100 entries! You know who you are! : -) x

Live snooker

September 2nd, 2010

I felt bright and breezy this morning! I tried watching Schindler’s list last night but after my curry and a glass of wine, I ended up falling asleep at 8.30pm! I woke up dead on 7am, which was very lucky as I realised I had forgotten to set my alarm! Whoops.

This morning I wrote a piece for our recruitment client’s blog site on how the CIPD believe that a sudden cap on net migration would lead to a UK skills crisis. You can read my piece by visiting: http://bondwilliams.com/?p=40

I also reformatted a press release for Bond Williams and rolled it out to all of my relevant press contacts. The company has just recruited two new members of staff to their HR, office and commercial division. You can read the press release here: http://clickwriters.com/worldwidewords/?p=87

At lunch time Hayley and I popped to the post office. I needed to return my lovefilm (Schindler’s list, which I never actually finished watching). I needed to get a ‘proof of postage’ form in case it goes missing in the post now that I have cancelled my account with them. I also got some money changed up for when me and Martyn go away next week! I cant believe it’s come round so quickly… I’m so excited! I also bought some wrapping paper for his present which is hidden in my bedroom!

I also found out that The Business Magazine published my press release on their website about the Serenata festival and their ticket offer. You can see it here: http://bit.ly/aXHsCp

This afternoon I continued working on the long list of festivals which I am compiling with their website and contact details. There are still quite a few to go!

Tonight Mart and I are off to watch the live snooker at the Guildhall in Southampton. I don’t know who most of the snooker players are, but I do know who Ronnie O’Sullivan is! It’s being filmed for Sky Sports – so see if you can spot us!

Until tomorrow…

A penny for your thoughts, Hayley.

September 1st, 2010

It’s been another sunny day down here in Bournemouth, which has been a really nice change after the horrendous rain on the drive back from Louth over the weekend.

This morning I finished researching the public sector market, for franchise opportunities.

At lunch time Hayley and I took our break down on the bench at East Cliff. It was lovely to just sit outside in the warm sunshine for an hour. However, I was a bit jumpy with all the wasps and an acorn (or at least something that resembled an acorn) fell out of the tree and hit me on my hand! I nearly threw my phone into the road it made me jump so much.

Hayley also made a friend (or maybe a foe…). As Hayley was rummaging in her a bag a tramp walked past and waved a penny in her direction. I couldn’t stop laughing, it was so bizarre! Unfortunately Hayley was completely oblivious. Perhaps he was trying to offer her a penny for her thoughts…

The rest of the afternoon has been spent researching different music festivals and noting down their website addresses and contact details.

I am looking forward to finally watching Schindler’s list tonight with a ruby that I bought from Tesco’s last night and a cold glass of white wine. Yum!

Hope you all have a lovely evening.

Bank holiday wedding shindig!

August 31st, 2010

Martyn and I had a lovely time at his cousin’s wedding in Louth, Lincolnshire. We were up at 5am on Saturday and I drove the 4 hours to the Hotel. We made it in good time as the traffic was pretty quiet at that time!

It was great to meet all of Martyn’s family and we had fun dancing the night away to the band which played some fantastic covers, including the beach boys!

On Sunday Martyn and I were both very tired. I started driving back, but after 3 hours was losing the will to live, so we swapped. We managed to make it home in one piece, and my little car did me proud. I think we ended up sleeping for about 12 hours on Sunday!

Even though it was a long weekend, it seemed to fly by again! I guess that’s because I don’t get to see Martyn much in the week at the moment…

Anyway, back to work again today!

This morning Neil and Wendy were telling us all about the Serenata Festival at the weekend. It sounds amazing; I really wish I could have gone to see what it was all like after the big build up to it. I even found out that my friend Lynzi was working there and it would have been great to see her. Oh well, perhaps I will go along next year.

This morning I uploaded some more images to the Serenata Facebook fan page for Friday which you can view here: http://bit.ly/dBwHIX and Saturday which you can view here: http://bit.ly/a6aDMa

The rest of the morning was spent researching the franchise market; key publications, exhibitions, websites etc. I have put this together with contact details in a spreadsheet for Neil.

This afternoon I started researching the public sector market for any franchising opportunities.

I also had a look at the Serenata website to see which pages needed up dating (most need to be altered slightly so it reads in the past tense and not the future tense).

I found that my dresses that I had ordered last week from www.scenedead.co.uk had arrived so I am looking forward to trying them on when I get home. I just hope that they fit!

More goss tomorrow!

Learning how to market a franchise.

August 27th, 2010

EA GamesIt was great to hear from Neil and Wendy all about the Serenata festival last night. It sounds like it was lots of fun and our Cre8ive Wisdom competition winner had a great time too!

Wendy sent through lots of gorgeous photos from yesterday which I have uploaded to the Serenata page on Facebook. I particularly like Faryl Smith’s dress and funky willies! You can view the photo’s here: http://bit.ly/aLKT8A

The rest of the morning was spent researching what is needed for marketing a franchise, for one of our clients.

At lunchtime Hayley, Rachel and I popped into town. Hayley needed to buy a birthday card and I needed to buy some perfume. While we were in the ‘square’ we found a stand for EA games, with a Nintendo Wii on a huge screen. We couldn’t resist so had a quick game of connect 4!

This afternoon I finished researching the marketing process of a franchise, and finished summarising the key points. I have now sent this on to Neil to look over.

I’m off to Martyn’s tonight as we are up very early in the morning to drive to Louth in Lincolnshire for his cousins wedding. I’m really looking forward to it – the hotel looks lovely! I just hope it doesn’t rain!

I’m looking forward to the bank holiday weekend and having an extra day to relax!

Whatever you end up doing, I hope it’s a good one!
